Pressing Pause: A Little Update From Me

Parenthood · November 20, 2025

It’s been a while since I last wrote here, longer than I planned, if I’m honest. I stepped back because everything was feeling a bit too much. Between parenting, our placement day anniversary coming up, navigating our adoption journey, and trying to figure out toddlerhood.. something had to pause. And it ended up being the blog. We are now returning to blogging after a break.

What Brought Me Back Here

I’ve missed writing. I’ve missed having a space to think, to process, to share the bits of adoption and motherhood that don’t always get spoken about. Writing like this has been incredibly therapeutic and I want to get back to it.

The break was needed. And now, slowly, gently, I feel ready to come back.

During the time away, life hasn’t stood still — far from it. Our daughter has grown, settled, stretched her roots a little deeper. I’ve grown too, though sometimes it’s only afterwards you realise it. I’ve learned (again) that self-care isn’t optional, that burnout doesn’t make you a bad parent, and that taking space to breathe is sometimes the bravest thing you can do.

Easing back in: what to expect

As the blog starts up again, I’ll be sharing more of:

• honest reflections on adoption and experiences of the process
• what’s helping our family right now
• books we love (because that continues to be where I get the most messages!)
• Everyday family life

And mostly?
I just want this to continue being a place where people feel less alone.

If you’ve stayed subscribed, followed, or simply remembered this little corner of the internet — thank you.
It means more than you know.

I’m glad to be back.
Even if my return is slow and imperfect, I hope these posts reach and help, even a little.
